Elections in 2023: PDP asks for a new Ogun gubernatorial election
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In response to the cancellation of results, particularly in the state’s Sagamu Local Government Area, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has called for a rerun of the Ogun state governorship election that took place on Saturday.
Dr. Sunday Solarin, the party’s state secretary, personally signed a petition requesting an electoral recount.
Oyejide Sunkanmi, a PDP state agent, objected to the procedure of downloading results from the server and uploading them on the result sheets, saying that zero results had previously been recorded in the impacted units.
At the INEC collation center on Sunday, the PDP representative read aloud the petition that Solarin had signed.
The Party said that the Electoral Act’s Section 24(3) gives the INEC the authority to call off elections in cases of violence and failure to accurately predict results.
