Chukwudozie Nwangwu, also known as “Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki,” was released by his captors, according to the Nigeria Police Command in Anambra.

Nwangwu’s release was verified on Saturday by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police public relations officer (PPRO).

Ikenga said that in the early hours of Saturday, the popular native doctor’s captors released him.

The local doctor was taken hostage on Sunday, July 23, at about 11:30 p.m. in Oba in Anambra’s Idemili North Local Government Area, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Ikenga claims that the kidnappers have been in touch with friends and family and are demanding millions, even as much as $300 million.

“I also have information that they have not paid. I also have information that he has been released by his abductors and we are making efforts to get information behind what happened,” he said.
