The Irish singer-songwriter, who passed away at the age of 56 earlier this week, understood the value of safeguarding her legacy and her family’s financial security.

She said, “What record companies do is kind of gross.”
Because of this, O’Connor said she has always told her kids from a young age, “If your mother passes away tomorrow, before you call 911, call my accountant and make sure the record companies don’t start releasing my records without telling you where the money is.”
O’Connor was discovered unconscious Wednesday morning at a residence in the Herne Hill district of south London. O’Connor was one of Ireland’s “greatest and most gifted composers,” according to Irish President Michael D. Higgins.

She was “our beloved Sinéad,” her family stated in a statement to Irish station RTE. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad.” The reason of death was not disclosed.
Her death was “not being treated as suspicious,” according to a statement from London’s Metropolitan Police on Thursday.
The news was released just 16 months after O’Connor’s son Shane, then 17 years old, committed su!cide.
