JUST IN: Former Ondo governor’s son Adefarati wins National Assembly election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Adegboyega Adefarati has been proclaimed the victor of the House of Representatives election for the Akoko South West and Akoko South East federal seat in Ondo state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adefarati received 25,872 votes to defeat Gbenga Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party, who was his closest opponent in the election process. Adefarati is also the son of the late Adebayo Adefarati, a former governor of the state (PDP).

Voters gave Mr. Kolawole 18,403 votes.

Adefarati, a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, was proclaimed the victor of the weekend poll by Professor Ibukun Emmanuel, the returning officer for INEC for the National Assembly election in Ondo state.

It was confirmed by Prof. Emmanuel, who announced the findings on Sunday, that 50,940 voters in all had been registered to vote.

Similarly, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has been proclaimed the victor of the House of Representatives election for the Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency in the state by INEC.

JUST IN

With 51532 votes, Tunji-Ojo, also known as BTO, who was re-elected to the Green Chamber for a second term, won the election.

Tunji-Ojo, a member of the APC, is the head of the House Committee on Niger Delta Affairs.
